A hidden oasis in the historic railway town of Omakau, Central Otago, New Zealand, Schist Rock Lodge provides new architecturally designed king ensuite studios, complete with luxury furnishings. Soak in the deep bath with some herbal salts in the light of a flickering candle. Relax while taking in the mountain views listening to the water trickling from the old gold sluice pipe into the pond, enjoying a drink on your private deck overlooking the garden. Perfect for a romantic getaway, a special occasion, pedaling the Otago Central Rail Trail or driving the Central Otago Tourist Route. We are a 4th generation local family taking pride to ensure your stay is something memorable. There is complimentary transportation to your choice of restaurant for evening dining. A continental breakfast is already set up in your room to start your next day. If you are short on time while riding the Otago Central Rail Trail, we offer free pick ups and drop offs from the Lauder Railway Station.
